Star Trek: The Next Generation hit the airwaves in 1987 and fans were not very excited to see it at first. A bald Englishman playing the French Enterprise Captain was totally absurd for the audience. Moreover they even showed resurrection of one of sci-fi sacred cows. The show was expected to be a complete failure right from the very start, but surprisingly it ran for a total of 178 episodes and 4 big screen movies. Here is a list of the best episodes that saved the series from failing and lead it toward success. Click on next button to proceed further and check out the best of the episodes:
1) Family (Season 4)
Season 3 finale concluded with Borg assimilating the captain of Enterprise, Jean-Luc Picard. Borg was one of the series’ best monsters. After returning to his normal state of humanity, he goes to his brother’s place to meet his family. At the same time Worf’s adopted human parents come to see him on the Enterprise. Not to forget that Beverly Crusher gave her son, Wesley a recording by her late husband made for him even before his birth.
The series give Picard a chance to fully reveal how traumatized he is by the recent events. Patrick Stewart did justice to the character in every sense.
2) Remember Me (Season 4)
Gates McFadden never got a chance to do much on The Next Generation. She did get some trifle tasks to do, but never a showcase episode. Episode ‘Remember Me’ sort of implies that’s a shame, because she does a great job here. The plot involves unexplained disappearance of the Enterprise crew. Only Dr. Crusher remembers their existence. Eventually, just Picard and Crusher are left aboard until he also disappears leaving her completely isolated. This is the point when McFadden brings her top game.
