Similar to the part of Prince Hamlet, Jax Teller’s character, played by Charlie Hunnam, is that of a conflicted and ineffective individual. He has a tendency to screw things up for himself, as well for others. The father of Jax Teller may not be the King, like that of Hamlet, but he was the leader and founder member of SAMCRO. After his death, he does not come to visit his son as a ghost to reveal the truth about his murder. But Jax does end up finding his secret writings in the pilot, which lead him to the murderers of his father. And this is no one else but Gemma Teller, his father’s widow (similar to Queen Gertrude from Hamlet) and his father’s best friend Clay (Usurping Uncle Claudius from Hamlet). The difference lies in the fact that the letter found by Jax talks more about how SAMCRO had lost its way. This is quite contrary to the ghost appearance in Hamlet, which urges Hamlet to seek revenge for the murder of his father. In the show Sons of Anarchy, the secret about the “accident” of JT or Jax’s father comes out more slowly. Therefore, unlike Hamlet, Sons of Anarchy cannot be called a revenge drama. There are several comparisons made of many other characters of the show to different characters from Hamlet, like Polonius, Horatio, Fortinbras, but none holds much substance to them.
