Kurt Sutter’s biker club drama series is off air as the bikers have rode into the sunset. All the fans of the show who religiously saw the seven seasons of the show swear by the action, violence and the sheer crescendo of the show – all synonymous with a biker club. Kurt Sutter in an interview just before the season finale mentioned casually that the show was a ‘pretentious Hamlet archetype’; a simple tale with tragic episodes.
The gist of the show was that Jackson Teller or Jax (Charlie Hunnam) is the stud of Charming. SAMCRO (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original) is the biker gang which is headed by Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) is also Jax’s step father. He married Jax’s mother Gemma (Katey Sagal) and both are suspected to have killed Jax’s father, John Teller.
The story takes us through Jax’s many struggles as he has to bring to fruition his father’s dream for the club and also redeem his death. There are various twists and turns along the journey and in the process we witness Clay and Gemma’s manipulations and Jax’s struggle to remain good inspite of nothing good happening to him. This makes SOA break the Shakespearean mould as Sutter had only 13 episodes a year and many characters and stories had to be told in this time frame. Jax, the tragic hero although surfaces in between many of these episodes and these are the ones that actually take the ‘main’ story ahead. Take a look at this list of 7 episodes that really defined the ‘essence’ of the show, use the next page button to check all the 7 episodes that were influenced by the Shakespearean writings! Enjoy.
