After long searches, CBS All Access has at last found the actress who will portray the main character in their new Star Trek: Discovery Television series. It is none other than Sonequa Martin-Green aka Sasha to the fans of The Walking Dead.
According to Entertainment Weekly, The Walking Dead’s Sonequa Martin-Green, also famous from The Good Wife and Once Upon a Time, has been cast in the lead role in CBS All Access’ TV series Star Trek: Discovery. She will be breaking the tradition by not playing captain in the series but a lieutenant commanded, even though the name of the character has not yet been revealed.
This 31-year-old actress, Martin-Green, who would be the first African-American woman to lead an ensemble cast of the Star Trek legacy, is still expected to come along as a series regular on The Walking Dead. As is already known, the rest of the crew would be played by Michelle Yeoh as Starfleet Captain Georgiou, Doug Jones as Lieutenant Saru, Anthony Rapp as Lieutenant Stamets and Shazad Latif as a Klingon officer called Kol.
