George Lucas’s 1988 Willow blended a story that took stuff heavily from The Lord of the Rings with first class special effects made by the people behind Star Wars and E.T. It appeared to be ready to become a blockbuster franchise. While it didn’t precisely set the movies ablaze, Ron Howard’s film went on to build up a cult following and boost the professions of stars Val Kilmer, Warwick Davis and Joanne Whalley. The stars of Willow went ahead to various prominent ventures. Read on to know what happened to the performing artists who played Willow Ufgood, Madmartigan, Queen Bavmorda, and the rest…
1. Warwick Davis (Willow Ufgood)
After playing Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi, Davis re-joined Lucas for the lead part in Willow. Davis turned into a star and went ahead to play everything from terrible ’90s villain the Leprechaun to fan favorites likeGriphook and FiliusFlitwick in the Harry Potter movies.
After playing an exaggerated form of himself opposite Ricky Gervais on the sitcom Life’s Too Short, Davis came back to the Star Wars universe with roles in The Force Awakens and Rogue One.
2. Joanne Whalley (Sorsha)
Whalley was generally known for her roles in the BBC series titled The Edge of Darkness and The Singing Detective. Thereafter, she was given a role opposite Kilmer as the wild warrior Sorsha. The duo got married not long after the film was finished, and brought up two kids before separating in 1995.
In the wake of spending a great part of the ’90s in movies like Navy SEALs and Trial By Jury, Whalley gained success on TV. She assumed the title role in CBS’ Scarlett miniseries. She has recently featured on the shows Wolf Hall and The Borgias. Furthermore, she can be seen as Rheda on the TV British Beowulf series.
